Description

While some kids have a family tree, WE have a family forest! Do you have half-sisters, big brothers, step-parents? The modern family comes in all shapes and sizes. This gentle and witty picture book looks at one such family. Nominated for the Children's Book Council of Australia Picture Book of the Year, this is a light-hearted look at different types of families. Glorious watercolor artwork, quirky characters, flowing lyrical test, and a gentle humor will make this a bedtime favorite.

Author description

Kim Kane was born in London, United Kingdom. Before October 2008, Kim wore high heels and worked exactly part-time as a lawyer and exactly part-time as a writer. In October 2008, Kim became the mother of twin boys and in these post-twin times she seems to spend a considerable part of her days stewing prunes and thinking about writing her next novel. Sadly, her shoes are orthopaedics. Kim also has two step-children aged 11 and 8 years, she doesn't cook or clean but she does like doing crafts and listening to stories. In short, she is a thoroughly modern mum in a thoroughly modern family. That's the way she sees it. Her offspring see it as haphazard parenting. Lucia Masciullo started working professionally as a freelance illustrator in 2004 while still living in her native Italy. In 2006 she moved to Brisbane after winning prizes and gaining recognition in several national and international contests. By 2007 she started working as a self represented artist selling her paintings on EBay. To date more than 60 of her paintings have found homes across the globe, in American, Europe and Australia.
